A huge number of individuals will tune in to watch the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 4. Furthermore, when they do, much the same as in the previous seven years, they won't perceive any Latino performing artists named for an Oscar.

The last candidates were Demián Bichir for best performing artist and Bérénice Bejo for best supporting on-screen character - both in 2011. The first and final Latino on-screen character to win an Oscar for a main part was José Ferrer for Cyrano de Bergerac in 1950! Also, Rita Moreno won her Oscar for her best supporting performing artist part in West Side Story in 1961.

The nonappearance of more chosen people underscores the absence of Latino portrayal in the film business, rare driving parts open doors for performing artists, and constrained or non-existent acknowledgment of their work - an issue that has been broadly scrutinized by numerous Latino associations.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC), which has its own particular Impact Awards to perceive remarkable accomplishments and commitments to the positive depictions of Latinos in media, is upholding for change in Hollywood and has propelled a national battle to bring issues to light about the issue paving the way to and after the current year's function. The gathering is requesting that individuals take an interest, conveying tweets with the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite, labeling real film studios and even offered a few examples of messages they can convey, similar to these:

Dark Panther is confirmation that POC can offer films. All in all, what about rather than another Captain America we do America Chavez rather @DisneyStudios? #HireUSLatinos

Latinos are tired of not seeing ourselves on screen. We purchase 24% of all motion picture tickets. @DisneyStudios @SonyPictures @UniversalPics @ParamountPics @20thcenturyfox @wbpictures in the event that you need that number to stay, you have to #HireUSLatinos and do it ASAP.

Maybe with an end goal to conciliate the discontent... or then again perhaps as an approach to cover the nonattendance of Latino performer chosen people, the Academy is conveying Latino on-screen characters to show grants.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Oscar Isaac, Rita Moreno, Gina Rodriguez, Daniela Vega, Eugenio Derbez and Eiza González will make that big appearance to declare a portion of the night's victors.
